Universal -- mybook.to/Shadows-Steel
For Anson “Steel” Sterling, former Marine Raider and current bad boy of the Shadows crew, kicking a** and talking sh*t is all in a day’s work. His boxing skills make him lethal in and out of the ring and his mind is just as quick as his fists. When an assignment has him heading out to Nevada, he’s prepared for boredom. After all, how hard can protecting one female athlete from a stalker be?
Katheryn “Kat” Callahan has one goal, prove to everyone, especially her judgmental father, she can be the best female MMA fighter. She’s more than capable of defending herself and doesn’t need a hulked-out alpha-hole bodyguard with a sharp tongue and a surly attitude shadowing her every move. With the biggest match of her career right around the corner, one crazy stalker’s not going to bring her down.
The pint-sized fighter fascinates Steel. With her striking amber eyes and honed physique, the attraction is immediate, but it’s her grit and determination that really gets his blood pumping. He’s ready to go a few rounds if it means seeing her worked up. But Kat needs to remain focused on her goals and Steel isn’t making that easy.
Can their mutual passion and stubborn attitudes make them the perfect team? Or will they remain in opposite corners, forever fighting alone?
Note: Steel is the fifth book of the Guts & Glory series, a six-book spin-off from my Dirty Angels MC series. While it’s recommended to read both series in order, each book can be read as a stand-alone. As with all my books, this has an HEA, no cliffhanger or cheating.

Wow ! What another great read in this on going series as the story was quite captivating along with tons of drama and suspense, action and intrigue and a whole lot of hotness and we loved every bit of it.
The story had an amazing cast of characters that you couldn't help but fall in love with. This was a great addition to this on going series and Chains has now become one of our favorite book boyfriends. We are really loving this series with its amazing characters.
Ms. Kris does it yet again and what a captivating story this was as it drew you right in from the very beginning and just a few pages in and I was totally enthralled to the very end.
I have to say that I was a little apprehensive going into this story whether I was going to love this story or not as this is not the norm for Ms. Kris because she is really known well for her amazing mafia romance reads but, I can say after reading this story that was filled with secrets, lies, deceit, and a bit of mystery I don't know why I even thought that in the first place because everything this author writes is just simply amazing and I have to say that I loved it so much that I didn't want it to end and had there been a book two I would have dived right into that one too!
I have to say I loved the character's Erxy and Arelle. Arelle was just the sweet and kind a caring type with just a big heart who could be smart ,sassy , sexy and flirty.
Erxy was just one of those characters you felt sorry for as even being a prince he never felt he belonged or was loved by no other than by his mother alone and he also carried around a bit of darkness within him but, once the mother he loved so desperately was taken from him that darkness magnified and he became more intense and bruiting and down right dangerous and full of vengeance.
What I think we loved most about this story was the battle of wills between these two main characters. Erxy and Arelle she was the light and he full of darkness and that fine line of love and hate but , not matter what the draw the mystery the sexual desire and tension always remained there between them and that was hotter than hell and their chemistry off the charts.
I loved that this re-telling was a bit dark as in made the story more interesting and even more intense and even believable that a story like this could actually be true.I have to say Poe was also one of those characters that was not easily forgotten.
We loved the story from beginning to end and everything in between as the story was quite enthralling and it had a great cast of characters whether you loved them or hated them it was the perfect mix of both and no matter what you do you can not out run your fate.I also loved how Eryx also called Arelle his little mermaid all the time because even when he hated her his calling her this was always infused with affection ,lust and even perhaps even love and that always put a smile on our face.
"Just mesmerizing !"
This was a great edition to the ongoing series.I really loved Beast in this story because I was having my doubts if I was going to like him at all and then when we saw he was attracted to Janie "well ", I thought this arrogant a** isn't going to stand a chance with her and "boy", was a wrong. lol
I loved Janie even if she was not the typical socialite wife because that is what we loved about her the most as she made the perfect one but, she was so much more.We found Janie to be fun and determined and we really saw her take charge of her life even after mishap after mishap was getting in the way she stood strong and proud and made the best of it but, one thing for sure is that arrogant prick of a husband of hers didn't know his women at all if he thought she was just going to take what he dished out lying down.
Beast was one of those characters that is all alpha all of the time but, he has been learning to dial it back a bit if he wants to catch the girl and keep her because she is not the type any longer who will put up with a man lording over her.I loved his struggles with thinking he was not good enough for Janie when he was just the type of man she did need in and out of bed and "boy", did these two have some awesome chemistry.
Overall we really enjoyed the story and although it was quite different then the other stories in this series and not as suspenseful this story had more of and interaction with the club old ladies and the other members and we really loved that and by the end of the story there was no doubt in my mind the both Janie and Beast were destined to be soulmates as they made a wonderful couple .
We are so loving this series and the wonderful characters that it has .
Humm...Not sure where to start with this one other than the fact that I had a lot of mixed feelings about the story and although I didn't love it I didn't hate it but, for me I just could not connect with the characters as they were like-able but, not love-able.
I thinks the bottom line is that these authors did not give you enough time to bond with these characters if you had already read some of the previous books in this series you might have already known somethings about them but, for us just coming into the series we new very few facts about them other then a few things that were mentioned in passing so this did not give a chance to get to know more about their past of present other that the facts of what clan they worked and belonged to and what they did for a living although we rationed out how this couple was already connected to one another . The other thing that did not work for me is where was the part that engaged the readers emotions because I felt that every move made just felt clinical as well as cut and dry.
For example though my eyes
Isabella is forced to go under for the CIA really being blackmailed and although they tried to give her some tools to protect her they were not enough and Isabella already knew what kind of man she would be dealing with and expected that she would have to make personal sacrifices so she wanted to have a choice in giving something like her virginity away to someone she loved without it being taken from her.The whole scene just played out and it was like no feelings were even involved at all and for me and doing the whole deed was just like they were going through the motions and it was like their was no connection between the characters at all. This should have been down right hot and scorching for this couple as she was secretly in love with Marcellus for years and even though Marcellus never admitted it he lusted after her for years so where was all the passion the fire the build up in their coming together ? Their intimate moments should have been explosive!
After everything that Isabella endured at the hands of a monster she just seems to go on with her life as if nothing tragic/sick/painful just happened to her as their is no breakdown ? no emotional pain?nothing?she showed no emotions what so ever and even after her explaining and Marcellus hearing her story that man should have been a raving lunatic out for blood and revenge and wanting vengeance "yes", he was pissed but, he should have wanted to be the one to take out anyone who hurt her and we understood that others parties involved had a stake in what was happening and not that we expected him to carry out any of these things because of the circumstances but, he sure as hell should have wanted to do these things to avenge a women who belonged to him and in there lies yet another problem when I said I felt no emotional attachment to any of these characters he was a made man in the mafia for christ sakes and then you had the fact that not once did I hear these two main characters say I love you face to face.
I know this book is fictional and sometimes as readers we have to keep reminding ourselves when reading stories like this and that their not real but, the reason we read stories with fictional mafia related characters is for the fact their filled with danger and suspense and a whole lot of hot alpha men then you have the twisted plots and the excitement and plots that engage the readers emotions to the tune you have a personal stake in their outcome an so forth and all these things just fell flat for me in this story because I felt all these things were missing from this ongoing story.
Although this story was not personally for us it was enjoyable enough to pass the time and we did like the fact the we were indeed surprised that the CIA had another fish on their hook as they say to do their dirty work for them and that was a big surprise that we didn't see coming of who that person was "so", we did indeed love that part.
We really are loving the characters in this series and we loved that we finally got to read about the mysterious Beaumont as he had us already intrigued from the first time meeting him and we loved him even more so this time around but, Hutton on the other hand took a little bit of warming up to not that she wasn't beautiful and kind and caring it was just that she seemed so fragile and had us wondering if she would be capable or even up to the task of loving a man such as Beau who was always in the limelight and so famous and all the baggage that comes with loving a man with said status.
I loved the fierceness and the protectiveness of Beaumont's friends they were truly his family and always had his back even the women of the men he called family.
I love a story when its about second chances because for Hutton she was only living a half a life without the man she gave her heart away to all those years ago and then you have Beau even though he broke her heart all those years ago has never forgotten her and was always in his thoughts.
This was such a sweet and endearing read and we loved that Beau stuck to his guns and made changes to his health and sobriety and they were the most important things to keeping him on track other than winning back the love of his life.
"He made us so proud as he was such a good man at heart but, got a little bit lost for a bit."
Although the story started out sad we think that Beaumont made the right choice at the time as he would have never been able to give Hutton all of himself and I think he needed to go through all that he did to become the man that Hutton deserved and the man that he to wanted to be all along.
We loved the chemistry between Hutton and Beau it was sweet and hot and all so romantic.
"This was such a beautiful story and we loved it from beginning to end!"
